The Morris Animal Foundation aims to improve animal welfare including wildlife research worldwide. This encompasses work in labs, clinical trials or the field that improves welfare, knowledge and management of animals. The foundation has provided so far over 160 million USD towards over 3,000 animal studies.

What can be funded
Within the wildlife focus, scientists can apply for four funding programs:
(i) a First Award, designed to assist new scientists in establishing a successful research program;
(ii) a Fellowship Training designed to provide salary support for new scientists to launch a successful research career in a quality mentored environment;
(iii) an Established Investigator grant to provide funding for research individuals and teams with a proven track record of publication and research success;
(iv) a Pilot Study grant designed to provide funding for innovative projects and novel research that advances the mission of the Foundation.
Other grants are also available with a focus around veterinary, disease and pet animals.
Who can apply
Animal science postgraduate students, early-career and established animal research individuals and teams are able to apply for grants offered by the Morris Animal Foundation. Applicants should carefully check the eligibility criteria as outlined in the proposal guidelines of the grant they are interested in to ensure they meet all requirements.
